My client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Marketing and Communications Manager to drive growth and enhance its brand reputation through strategic marketing initiatives and effective communication strategies. This role is pivotal in generating leads, attracting new members, retaining existing ones, and fostering community engagement among current and prospective members.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with Heads of Departments and team members to promote facilities and services efficiently and effectively. Ultimately, the goal is to establish my client as the premier destination for health and fitness, inspiring individuals to begin their wellness journey.

As part of the senior leadership team, this role is crucial in optimising communications and building brand recognition, focusing on key pillars such as Childcare, Junior Activities, Events, Clubs within Clubs, and Active Aging.

Day to Day

This role will see you support with wider business across 4 key areas – People, Members, Operations and Finance.

No two days will be the same and you will get to work closely with the Digital Engagement Lead, Sales, and IT in the communication and marketing aspects of the member journey strategy.

You’ll be happy to collaborate with internal teams to gather content, including member testimonials, success stories, and information about upcoming events.

There is so much variety to this role, from working on comms and marketing campaigns with internal stakeholders through to community outreach programmes and sponsorship opportunities.

Member engagement is a big focus for this role so getting to know the members will be key in terms of how to communicate with them and the communications strategies that best engage both new and existing members.

Digital marketing has proved successful for my client and day to day you will be working across social media, email campaigns, digital advertising including paid (PPC), SEO and content generation. That said, traditional marketing methods such as print and events work well too.

Commercially savvy, contributing to generating profit for growth you’ll be a marketing and communications professional with prior experience of most of the following:

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field. Alternatively, proven experience in digital marketing, website management, SEO, or related role.
  • Experience in line management responsibilities and nurturing/developing small teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in social media management platforms, website content management systems, and email marketing software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling digital content.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, analyse performance metrics, and optimise digital initiatives.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative digital engagement strategies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing third-party software and integrations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams.
